The Morris dancers may have been out in force last weekend, ushering in Summer but … it hasn’t worked – not much in the way of blue skies in this neck of the woods yet – let’s hope it improves soon! Luckily I’ve been having more luck ushering in the synopsis for my fourth (fiction) book, and after a much-needed break the ideas are starting to flow together more fluently.
Sales of A Sister’s Gift are still doing well, five months after it came out. I was chuffed to see it reach Number 74 in Amazon’s top 100 fiction bestsellers last weekend. I have to concede that being linked to Jodi Picoult’s latest book must have helped enormously – many thanks to Jodi!
Apart from last month’s good news on the sales of my books to Portugal and China, I was pleased to hear from my agent that the short story I wrote for Mother’s day last year (see last feb’s news to read it – it’s called ‘Roses for Mum’) has been picked up by the Swedish magazine Allas for their Mother's Day edition.
I only wrote that one a year ago but it’s interesting how things you write in this business can have a very long life-span. Someone pointed out an article that I wrote for the Independent 18 years ago made an appearance again this week in Andrew Lawton’s excellent blog on Rosemary Sutcliff.
Many thanks to those of you who email me via the website to leave comments/ask questions about my novels. It’s great to
hear from you and I do aim to reply to everyone. For those living in Kent or near enough see the space above for my upcoming talks – I’d love to meet any of you who can make it!
