I thought I’d begin the summer update with some new covers that have come through since I was last up here...
I love the red balloon!
My thoughts have been turning to covers, lately, and all that goes into developing them. I’m used to evoking with words. Cover design is obviously about evoking through pictures and use of colour and light – a totally different process. Right now I’m really looking forward to working with a fabulous designer who’s promised to help me come up with something that’s just right for my fourth book – titled; Falling For You.
The first germ of an idea for this story came when, having nothing else to hand, I was browsing through a bible left in the bedside table of my hotel room. Matthew to the Corinthians took my eye; the well-known psalm that begins ‘Love is gentle, Love is kind...’ and goes on to say that love ‘... does not become provoked, does not take account of the injury... it bears all things, endures all things.’ It’s an interesting sentiment in light of the fact that we’re most used, these days, to injured parties wanting to jump to redress. But what if someone loves both the person who has committed the injury and the person who has been injured? Book four is classic Romeo and Juliet stuff, really, but without the costumes..
So; when’s it due out?
I’m planning on releasing ‘Falling For You’ as an e-book on Amazon kindle in the late autumn. E-publishing is a totally new venture for me, and one I’m feeling really excited about just now. The buzz about e-books at a recent writers’ conference I attended was catching. Judging by the month-on-month increase of e-book sales of my back-list, this definitely seems the way to go.
A lot of you out there, I imagine, might still be thinking you’d prefer an actual paperback to read. At this stage I haven’t ruled this out altogether. I’d be interested in any feedback readers might have on that score – so don’t be shy, and get in touch with me via the contact page if you’ve anything you’d like to chip in with.
Until soon, and enjoy your Summer!
Giselle
